Tony Marguery is Assistant Professor of European Law at the University of Utrecht. Previous to his academic appointments he worked as a defence lawyer in France until 2001. He is the author of a considerable number of publications on EU criminal law, Dutch criminal law and French criminal law. His monograph compares prosecution services in the Czech, Dutch, French and Polish systems. His most recent EU funded research project was on EU mutual recognition instruments on transfers of convicted persons in the EU and the protection of fundamental rights, especially the protection against torture and degrading treatment, the right to a fair trial and the right to private and family life.
